Contact the Parish Council

Selwyn Burton is the clerk and Proper Officer to the council. As such he is required to give clear guidance to the council, including the Chair before decisions are made, even if the advice is unpalatable. The clerk advises the council and councillors on procedural and ethical matters and is the liaison between the council and other bodies, such as the District and County Council. On matters of law the clerk gives advice making necessary enquiries where appropriate. The clerk also administers the council.

The clerk is also the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) An RFO must be appointed by each local council in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972 Section 151. The Responsible Financial Officer is responsible for compliance with Accounts and Audit Regulations and for delivery of all financial processes.

Selwyn is a retired detective chief inspector. He has a BSc (Hons) in Policing and Police Studies from Portsmouth University and a post graduate certificate in Management from Staffordshire University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

He is a black belt in Ju-Jitsu and enjoys going to the gym, walking the dog, DIY, computer work and chess.
